I had not heard anything so contacted the centre in Florida directly via email, they have received my details from Oxford late last week. They will be in touch this week for some medical forms that need to be completed prior to visit and then we can start discussions on travel dates and consultation details 🙂
Also received another welcome pack from them today (that’s two now!)
*Update – Provisional date of 22nd September as a departure date!
Whilst in hospital I was visited by Nicky Samways, Fran Woodhouse & Cat Bowes (all stoma nurses) who I had met previously, they are great at putting your mind at ease and showing you how to care for your stoma and equipment involved.
All nurses looking after me were excellent but there is always one that stands out from the crowd ‘Roger’ a senior staff nurse originally from the Philippines, awesome man in every way who took the time to talk about anything and everything whilst administering my drugs & to my family when they were in (even told me about the stash of milkshake energy drinks you could help yourself to) 🙂
Stoma took around 4 days to start working, once this was ok Mr George instructed I could go home to recuperate….
First meeting with Mr Bruce George, Consultant in General and Colorectal Surgery. Very nice man but is straight to the point! he examined me and went through the procedure, seems fairly straight forward. This will be carried out as soon as pre-op is carried out, typically this cannot be done today! even though it’s in an adjoining room in the same hospital! grrrr….
